Parents
Foothills Academy Parents' Association (FAPA)
FAPA Mission is to advocate for the right of children with learning disabilities to realize their full potential through education.
What does FAPA do?
FAPA is a community of concerned parents dependent on one another for mutual support. We are linked in partnership with the Foothills Academy
Board of Governors, and the Foothills Academy Staff. Together we
are dedicated towards producing a positive environment for our children
through advocacy, social events and the community at large.
FAPA coordinates and supports the parents fundraising efforts to raise money for the school bursary fund. All families make a commitment for the major annual fundraising events including the Car Raffle, Fall Funtasia (Auction), Run Walk N Roll and Casino.
Through these efforts, tuition assistance funds are then made available to any family in need of financial assistance to attend our school. Involvement in our school also shows our children that we value them and their education. It sets a good example for these future citizens.
Along with fundraising, FAPA has many functions including
Advocacy
Parent communication
Social and extracurricular events and
Supporting the school through various volunteer opportunities.
Getting Involved
FAPA has positions opening and are alwaysin need of volunteers to work together organizing events. Taking part in some aspect of organizing is also part of our family commitment. Volunteering is also a lot of fun as you get to know more parents, can celebrate our children’s successes and support each other when our children struggle with their challenges. Without volunteers stepping up into these roles, we will not be able to support the fundraising efforts that bring in funds to allow all children the chance to come to this school.
