Community Services

Psychological Services & Programs

The Psychological Services and Programs department offers quality, comprehensive psycho-educational assessment, individual and family counselling, and group programming services for children, youth and adults affected by Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD. Our team relies on evidence-based practices in Psychology and Education to guide our practices. We not only seek to understand what a child’s difficulty might be, but also the areas where they can find pride and success.

Staff

To allow us to provide services to the community at a reduced cost and to prepare professionals with the knowledge and skill sets to work with our population, we are committed to being a Training Facility. As such, many of our team members are Registered Provisional Psychologists or Masters/ Ph.D. level practicum and internship students from local graduate university programs. All psychologists-in-training are supervised by Registered Psychologists.

Intake Criteria

Assessment and Counselling: The assessment and counselling services are offered to children (age 5+), adolescents, and adults.

Child & Youth Group Programs: Our group programs currently serve children, youth, and young adults with LD and/or ADHD. Participation in these groups requires no significant emotional or behavioural challenges. Please note that although we can accept children with additional diagnoses of Anxiety or ASD Level 1, these diagnoses alone are not sufficient for eligibility. All group programs require the completion of an intake package to ensure a good fit between the participant and the program. Read more about our full details about our Intake Criteria and the Intake Process.

Please Note: Our programs are quite popular. While we try to accommodate all interested participants, decisions are made in the best interest of the participant and the group as a whole. Such decisions cannot be made until ALL required documents are received. Therefore, parents are encouraged to complete all registration requirements as quickly as possible to allow for a timely response. When there are a number of approved candidates to choose from, a 'first come, first served' approach will be utilized.

Adult Group Programs: We currently offer one group program for adults. We offer a Parent/Guardian Support Group which is being offered through an online format. It is open for all parents/guardians of children and youth (ages 6 - 18) diagnosed with a Learning Disability and/or ADHD.
