Student Information

The leadership program at Foothills Academy is a course, which focuses on hands-on work. All the Student Council positions are elected: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and class representatives. These voluntary positions allow students to learn leadership skills and play an important part in student life. Leadership skills are developed through the roles and responsibilities that each student has as a member of the school's Student Council. Assignments completed throughout the academic year relate to organizing events and activities for the student body (such as dances, lip sync competitions, and intramural sports). The students get a chance to experience dynamic teamwork, while learning to use parliamentary procedures during meetings and planning sessions. Organization and communication skills are other important areas of focus intended to benefit the student on a personal and professional level. The students receive credits from the Career Transition strand of the CTS curriculum.
