How will Online Programming work for Camp Amicus?
At the program start time, your child will log on to a private Zoom session (with a unique ID, and password) for daily programs, social skills, and social coaching in small groups. If your child has never used Zoom before, that is okay. We will be in the Zoom Rooms early (15-20 minutes) in the first week to help people get set up and understand how to use their video and audio, reactions, or the chat function.
What will online campers be doing?
Mornings of online camp are quite similar to in-person camps. We start with a Zones of Regulation check in, play a large game altogether and spend time working on our social skills. We integrate the same fun and friendship throughout all of the programs, whether online or in person.
During the afternoons, our campers attend a club of their choice (art/music, science/engineering) for each week of online camp. Campers can change their club between weeks or stay in the same club with new activities in the second week. Each day will end with campers celebrating their successes with Steps in the Right Direction.
The goals of Camp Amicus are to increase the campers’ self-esteem, make friends, learn social skills, have a ton of fun and make lasting friendships! Our online program functions with the same ratio of campers and staff (1:3) with all supplies prepackaged and organized with clear directions including colour photographs for the projects. They are designed to provide the most amount of fun and the least amount of clean-up or hands-on parent involvement.
