COVID-19 Protocols for Community Services for In-Person Programs (as of March 1, 2022)

Published: March 1, 2022 3:51 p.m.

On March 1, 2022,  Alberta moved into Step 2 of the plan to relax COVID-19 health measures.  As Foothills Academy adjusts to these new guidelines in our school, we also want to honour the expectations that families had when they registered for our Community Services.

At this time, we maintain the expectation of mask use set out at the time of registration for all Community Services participants attending group programs (e.g., Amicus Recreation or Psychology groups) that began prior to March 1st.

We continue to prioritize safety in our building in a variety of ways, including: maximizing ventilation; requiring staff members to be vaccinated; making hand sanitizer available throughout the building; providing clear barriers for one-to-one work, and ensuring frequent cleaning occurs in high-touch areas or shared materials.

Going forward, the following applies to all Community Services clients:

  • We support the diverse experiences and choices made by each person working or taking programs in our building, however, we do encourage our Community Services visitors to wear masks in the common areas of the building, even if they are attending individual services (e.g., Read/Write session or Psycho-educational Assessment appointment).

  • Prior to attending your appointment, please review the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist (updated February 9, 2022) prior to each visit, and carefully follow the relevant health guidance, remembering that isolation requirements still apply.

  • Please utilize the Parent Drop-off checkpoint set up at our front entrance, about 10 metres before the main doors. Parents are still unable to enter the building, so staff members will meet the client at the checkpoint, and escort them to their appointment. The young person will be escorted back to the same location at the end of their appointment.

  • We will require any client who experiences COVID-19 symptoms during their program to be picked up by a parent/guardian as soon as possible.
