Protecting Our Kids in the Digital Age

Join us on the evening of January 16th for an eye-opening presentation about the tactics used by child predators and how to safeguard children in today’s digital world.   Constable Villani delves into how these criminals operate, where they are found online—including social media and gaming platforms—the process of grooming, and the warning signs of a child in danger. Practical strategies for protection will be shared, alongside powerful victim testimonies to highlight the importance of awareness and action. Grandparents, parents and guardians are encouraged to attend to gain valuable tools for keeping children safe. 

This evening workshop is geared for parents/care-giver/adults. However, we offer childcare for the evening for our Foothills Families. Foothills students (Team 1 & 2) will have the presentation during the school day. Constable Gert Villani
More about Constable

Born and raised near Antwerp, Belgium,  Constable Villani has an extensive background in international defense, law enforcement, and community engagement.  Constable Villani began his career in 1998 with the Belgian Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller before joining the Royal Belgian Mounted Police. In this role, he participated in border operations, search and rescue, hostage rescue, and high-risk protection missions for NATO, embassies, and dignitaries.

He later joined the Belgian Federal Police, serving in Brussels and Antwerp, where he worked in security operations for the Jewish community, the Belgian Royal Family, and international diplomats.

In 2008, Constable Villani immigrated to Canada and joined the Calgary Police Service.  Over the years, he has taken on diverse roles in Patrol, Traffic, Courts, Recruiting, and School Resource programs. 
Currently, Constable Villani is part of the S4 unit, presenting full-time to schools across Calgary and nearby areas.

With Constable Villani's unique blend of international and local experience, he offers dynamic insights into safety, security, and community leadership.  Foothills Academy is both honored and delighted to have Constable Villani present to our community.
