About Our Staff
Teachers and assistants work tirelessly to ensure that the individualized needs of their students are met. The role of the school staff is to empower students to find understanding in themselves academically and emotionally, to build the skills and competence of every student in all domains, and they maximize the potential of every student so that they will become the best all-around citizens they can be.
Foothills Academy’s dedicated staff are expertly trained in working with students with Learning Disabilities. Regular professional development is provided to teachers, assistants and support staff on the current best practices for working with students with Learning Disabilities and their families. Consistent and ongoing training ensures that staff are experts in the field and that our practices are regularly reviewed and evaluated to ensure the best teaching and learning experiences for all of our students. We build upon our successes in the classroom to further our understanding of what works best for this student population.
Foothills staff not only receive exceptional professional development for their own teaching and learning but they also expand upon it within collaborative groups school-wide. The adoption of Self-Determination Theory across the school program has recently put staff at the forefront of outstanding effective practices for developing motivation, supporting regulation and building outright success in our student population.
