Donate Securities and Mutual Funds

Donating publicly traded securities and mutual funds allows you to increase the impact of your gift so that you can make an even greater impact on the lives of children with Learning Disabilities.

When you own publicly traded securities, you are responsible for paying Capital gains are the increase in the value of your securities over the price you paid at purchase. By donating securities, you receive a double tax benefit. The Canada Revenue Agency does not apply capital gains tax on donations of publicly traded securities.

When you donate your securities, which you can do directly through CanadaHelps, the capital gains are not subject to tax. This means that Foothills Academy Society receives a larger gift and you will benefit from a tax receipt for the full value of your eligible securities or mutual funds.
