About:

The Code Your Own Arcade program is a partnership between Amicus and Code Ninjas. In this interactive environment, youth learn the foundations of computer science and game design through Microsoft MakeCode Arcade led by expert Code Ninjas instructors. Alongside them, Amicus staff- specially trained in working with neurodiverse youth- are there every step of the way to support behaviours, facilitate friendships, and actively coach social skills.

During the program, kids become game developers. They learn exactly how characters, movement controls, obstacles, and game mechanics are brought to life through code. They will test their creations, troubleshoot problems, and customize their projects with their own unique ideas.

This program is designed for all skill levels. For beginners, the visual platform offers a highly accessible introduction that lets them see their code in action immediately. For those with prior coding experience, our expert Code Ninjas instructors can tailor challenges to keep them engaged and learning. Regardless of their starting point, every child will build technical abilities, creativity, and confidence.

Intake Criteria

Youth can attend Amicus Recreation programs if they meet our Intake Criteria. If your child has not participated in an Amicus or social skills program through Foothills Academy before, the first step is to complete the Intake process prior to registration taking place.
