This evening workshop includes key information on how to prepare for higher education as a neurodivergent learner. Our experts will help set high school students and their families up for success with insights, strategies, and resources for transitioning to postsecondary education and/or the workplace.
This workshop provided the opportunity to set yourself or your student up for one of life’s most important transitions!
Target audience: High school students, their families, educators, counselors, and the wider community.

Alex Montford is an Assistive Technology specialist dedicated to both UDL and one-on-one student support to make learning accessible to all.
Meadow Schroeder, PhD, R Psych is an Associate Professor in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary. She has been teaching and mentoring graduate students in educational psychology for over a decade. Her main research interests include how students with disabilities are supported in the educational setting, diagnostic decision-making, and self-regulated learning.
Michelle M. Dow, EdD Director, Access and Inclusion Services Education EdD, University of Calgary MA, Columbia University BA, Tufts University Originally from the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Michelle’s journey to Calgary took her to Boston where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development from Tufts University. Michelle eventually made her way to New York City where she completed a Master of Arts degree in Special Education/Deaf Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Teaching. In 2017 she received her Doctorate in Education Leadership from the University of Calgary. Over the course of Michelle’s 24-year career as an educator she has worked with students in numerous capacities. She is motivated and inspired by collaboration and is a strong believer in inclusive education and Universal Design for Learning. Michelle values equity, diversity and inclusion and believes that an educator’s ability to create safe and caring spaces where students feel seen, heard, and respected enhances learning opportunities. She believes that students have the greatest opportunity to thrive and be successful when stakeholders build relationships and work together to remove barriers.
As an educator in Alberta school systems for more than 30 years, Carola Tiltmann has channeled her love of learning and guiding children's engagement with their world, working with both typical and special needs students in a variety of settings. She now directs that same passion and energy to managing the activities of the Learning Disabilities & ADHD Network. Among other roles, she acts as a resource navigator for the public, guiding with advice and connecting people to information, services and supports, both pre- and post-diagnosis. Carola remains strongly committed to ensuring that individuals with LD or ADHD have the necessary understanding and environments to live happy and successful lives.
