Now in his third year with Foothills Academy Society, John Carter continues to make a lasting impact as our Physical Education - Educational Assistant. What he enjoys most is having the opportunity to interact with every single grade, from the grade 3s all the way to the grade 12s. Building relationships with almost every student in the school gives him a chance to learn so much about the inspiring kids who make our community so great. Nothing brings him more fulfillment than witnessing the remarkable growth and positive transformation that takes place in a student over the course of a school year.

As a vital member of our school team, John’s daily schedule is dynamic and spans multiple age groups. A typical morning begins by supporting Team 2 students. Following lunch, he works alongside Team 3 students before wrapping up the afternoon with the grade 5s. Beyond his typical day, John extends his dedication to school athletics as the coach of the Jr. Boys volleyball team, currently leading them through an exciting playoff run in pursuit of a championship banner!
Many people might not realize just how interactive and collaborative the role of a PE Educational Assistant really is. Beyond providing tailored student support and facilitating daily activities, John leads by example on the gym floor, actively participating in games and sports right alongside the students. This hands-on, energetic approach creates an inviting, upbeat environment where students feel encouraged to participate, try new things, and build confidence.
Interacting with students from every grade level gives John a unique opportunity to build genuine connections throughout the entire school. He loves taking time for simple daily check-ins, whether he is asking kids about their weekend plans or hearing about what they did after school. These everyday conversations help ensure every child feels seen, supported, and valued. Through this steady enthusiasm and mentorship, John helps build a strong foundation of confidence that shines through in everything our students accomplish.
